Tuesday August 7th 2018 is primary election day. A number of Indian origin Americans are in the race for various elected offices this year. As a US citizen you it is more critical this year to get involved and exercise your right to vote. The recent political climate is starting to adversely affect all immigrants. Immigration, civil rights and equality are all at stake. Please support candidates that you think will support your rights.
Recently, several Michigan Indian community members hosted a special event to show their support to democratic party candidates including Gretchen Whitmer who is running for Governor, State of Michigan. Her opponent Shri Thanedar (see interview) is continuing to flood the television, direct mail, radio and newspaper with his message to make a difference. Never have we seen such a powerful campaign by an Indian origin American!
Suneel Gupta is running a tough campaign (see interview) for the 11th district US Congress primary election to represent the democratic party.
Aditi Bagchi is also vying to represent the democratic party for State representative – District 38 appealing to residents of (see interview) Novi, South Lyon, Lyon, Walled Lake and Northville (North of 8 mile).
Anuja Rajendra is running for State Senate (Ann Arbor area) and Nicole Bedi for State representative (Birmingham area).
Vote YES for Canton roads - Canton Township is taking a bold step to fix the roads to make Canton a destination of choice. Supporting the millage will transform Canton’s infrastructure. Several newspaper articles support the millage. Click here for blog update.
