Ashwath from Ann Arbor


Local college student Ashwath Muruganand, from the University of Michigan, has been selected to represent the United States Rowing Team at the World University Championships in Shanghai China on August 10-12. World University Championships are organized by the International University Sports Federation, and features high level collegiate athletes from around the globe any of whom are accomplished, and Olympic hopefuls 

Ashwath is an accomplished rower, and dedicated student. He first developed a passion for rowing when he began the sport as a freshman in high school for Northville Rowing Club. Ashwath was team captain for Northville Rowing, a two-time Midwest champion in the single and double sculls, and a four time state champion. In his collegiate career at the University of Michigan, Ashwath has received a number of honors. He was selected as a 2017 All-American Freshman, a 2017 and 2018 All-American Academic, and won the 2018 ACRA National Championship.
